When i first attended Ayresome Park Middlesbrough were in a dire financial state, attendances were low and parts of the ground remained closed, I remember being housed in the enclosure of the main stand and matchday programmes being sold for less than face value to boost sales, The game was a Canon Second Division game between Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 2nd November 1985, the game finished 0 0. Middlesbrough ended the season being relegated to the Third Division and being locked out of their home.
