Tuesday 6th October 1987 was Littlewoods League Cup Second Round Second leg day at Anfield with Liverpool taking on Blackburn Rovers, The first leg ended in stalemate at 1 1 Rovers holding their own against a very strong Liverpool side. Tonights game brought much optimistic hopes amongst a lot of Rovers fans that an upset could be on the cards, Rovers played well but unfortunately just could not put the ball in the net, and Liverpool managed it only the once, via Aldridge. Rovers exited the cup, but with much praise from Liverpool fans for a hard fought tie over the 2 legs.
