Saturday 16th April 1994, Premier League, Southampton entertain Blackburn Rovers, Blackburn on a high going head to head with Manchester United for top spot in the Premier League, Earlier in the month Rovers had beaten Manchester 2 0 with a brace from Shearer, With Shearer returning to Southampton along with Tim Flowers, were hoping to push United even further, Southampton had other ideas though and raced into a 2 0 lead before half time with goals from Dowie and Allen, Rovers came out strong at the start of the second half and got an early goal from Ripley, but a Le Tissier goal with about 20 minutes to go more or less ended Rovers battle, 3 1 the final score to Southampton.
