Monday 2nd May 1994, Premier League, Coventry entertain Blackburn Rovers, Blackburn needed a win to have any chance of pipping Manchester United to the title anything less and the title would go to United, Rovers started nervously and Coventry took advantage of this scoring within the first ten minutes from Darby, after the early setback, Rovers settled and becoming more composed on the ball managed to pull the goal back through Le Saux just before the half hour mark, Rovers hung on till half time in a nervy game, Within ten minutes of the restart though Darby got his second and Coventry's second, try as they might Rovers just could not get the ball in the net. Defeat it was, but on the whole no complaints Rovers finished second of the English Premier league, Their highest finishing place since they won the League back in 1914.
