Tuesday 8th August 1995, Official Opening of Rugby Park, Kilmarnock entertained English Champions Blackburn Rovers for the Official Opening of their redeveloped Rugby Park, Blackburn soon got into their stride and scored two goal in the first ten minutes to stamp their authority in the game, running out eventual 5 0 winners, A hat-trick from Alan Shearer and a brace from Mike Newell showing the difference between the sides.
